Advocate to End Menstruation Taboos in Indian Families

Advocate to End Menstruation Taboos in Indian Families
The Issue
I am an independent woman, raised by a woman of strength who taught me to strive beyond the boundaries of my gender. We were not a family bound by ancient taboos. As a science student and an engineer, I have lived my life guided by facts, not myths. After my marriage, however, I confronted the harsh reality of societal taboos around menstruation. I found myself being isolated and stamped as 'impure' during my menstrual days, a practice with no scientific or religious justification.
It is time to raise our voices against these archaic practices that demean women. More than half the population of India are women, and virtually all of them would menstruate for a significant part of their life. But the cultural taboos surrounding menstruation result in absurd restrictions and put mental stress on women globally, particularly in India (UNICEF).
We must stop the perpetuation of these harmful stereotypes and shaming around a natural biological process. Such practices push women back into the dark ages, mentally burdening them and preventing them from realizing their potential. It's time we broke away from these constraints and allowed every woman to bloom unimpeded.
We need to help eliminate these offensive taboos that don't serve any purpose but to degrade the women's emotional state and hinder their lifestyle. With this petition, we urge people across India and the globe to fight against menstrual myths and taboos prevalent in society.
Stand with us, pledge to smash the stereotypes, and support the right of every woman to be treated with dignity, every day of the month. Sign this petition now. Your signature can bring us one step closer to a society free from menstrual taboos.
