Advocate for William Jessup to Remove John Jackson as University President

The Issue

Why we need your help:

Working together is the only way we will be successful. Please sign and share with as many people as possible who have been impacted by Jessup's poor leadership.

What are we working towards:

William Jessup deserves the best leadership possible, and that being said, our goal is that John Jackson no longer represents us. It is no secret that John Jackson's leadership has brought controversy and financial concern to the University. His personal views have devalued the degrees of thousands of graduates in the eyes of the professional community. The reputation of Jessup is becoming tarnished, but it is not too late to turn this all around.

What you can do:

Please sign this letter in unity with students, staff, alumni, and professors in order to inform the board that we are serious and unified in our call to action. This letter will also be sent to the accreditation board (which is expected to be visiting the University in the fall). The more voices the better.
Together, we can do this.

Our statement:

"We are writing this letter to bring to your attention the concerning situation at William Jessup University, where the current university president, John Jackson, has failed to meet the expectations of the university community and has demonstrated a lack of leadership and accountability.

As concerned members of the university community, we have witnessed firsthand the negative impact of John Jackson's leadership on the university. Under his tenure, the university has experienced a decline in academic standards, a lack of transparency in decision-making, and a disregard for the concerns and needs of students, faculty, and staff.

John Jackson has been involved in several controversies that have damaged the reputation of the university. These include allegations of financial mismanagement, conflicts of interest, personal gain from school resources, and a failure to address issues of diversity and inclusion on campus. There have also been evasive school policies that students must sign which gives the school rights to their mental health information, information which would otherwise be protected by HIPAA. The most recent concern is his launch of a Master Class for how to gain wealth, from which he will personally gain, and has used his status as the University President for credibility, despite the finances at the University being in disarray. Other concerns come from him using university funds to promote his own personal platform and endeavors.

Despite repeated calls for accountability and change from the university community, John Jackson has failed to take responsibility for his actions and has shown a lack of willingness to address the concerns of those he is meant to serve. At this time, there are four professors behind this cause who wish to remain anonymous out of fear of losing their job. This fear is not unwarranted given the way that those who have shown dissent towards John Jackson’s tactics have been removed from the board and staff. A collective concern is that the degrees earned by thousands of students and alumni will be devalued out of association with the University president in the same way that the degrees of students and alumni from Liberty University have been devalued out of association with the behavior of their University President.

Therefore, we urge the WASC Senior College & University Commission to complete a full audit of the University’s financial standing and investigate the accusations of NDAs, personal gain, and misappropriation of funds. If foul play is discovered, we insist that WASC take action and remove John Jackson from his position as university president, It is imperative that the university community is led by someone who is committed to upholding the values of academic excellence, transparency, and accountability.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

The Jessup Advocacy Team"
