Advocate for Water Park Visits as a Fun, Healthy, and Active Option

The Issue

I am part of an after-school club in Flint, MI. We go on field trips that are okay but could be more fun. I believe that visiting water parks can significantly improve our experiences. Water parks are not just about fun; they also offer health and exercise benefits.

Water parks provide a great way to stay active while having fun. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), swimming is the fourth most popular sports activity in the United States and a good way to get regular aerobic physical activity (CDC, 2017). Just an hour of light swimming can burn up to 500 calories, which helps maintain a healthy weight.

Moreover, water park visits can also contribute positively towards mental health by reducing stress levels and promoting overall well-being. The American Psychological Association states that leisure activities like these help manage stress (APA, 2018).

I propose that we incorporate more visits to water parks into our after-school club's itinerary. This will not only make our field trips more enjoyable but will also promote physical activity among us students - all while having loads of fun!

Please sign this petition if you agree with me! Let's make our after-school activities healthier and more exciting by advocating for visits to water parks!
