Advocate for the Introduction of Clare's Law to Combat Domestic Violence in Australia
The issue
As a survivor of domestic violence, the growing number of women subjected to this horrific acts of violence in Australia is not just an alarming statistic, but a bitter reality that rings all too close to home for me. Our nation has been witnessing a surge in cases, with the loss of 101 women to domestic violence in 2024. Alarmingly, within the first few months of 2025 alone, we've already grieved 14 women’s lives. It is not just the numbers that we mourn, but each potential unfulfilled, each loving heart silenced too soon.
That’s why today, I urge all of you to join me in calling for the introduction of Clare’s Law in Australia. Clare’s Law, also known as the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme, is a preventative measure that grants individuals the 'Right to Ask' and the 'Right to Know' about a partner or ex-partner's history of domestic violence or abuse. Its implementation could save countless individuals from entering or staying in abusive relationships without knowledge of perilous risks involved.
Domestic violence isn’t a private issue - it's a societal problem that we must address collectively. We require practical solutions, and the first step in making a difference is the introduction of Clare's Law. We don’t want to see another “statistic”. We demand real and actionable change. Sympathy is redundant without action.
Please, sign this petition and join our fight against domestic violence. Together, let’s strive to end femicide in Australia and ensure a safer future for all our women.
Note: This petition is now linked with another campaign by Samantha calling for the same reform.
