The Issue

Like many of you, I live in Los Angeles, CA. Everyday I witness heartbreaking scenes. Countless innocent dogs are being euthanized in the state of California just because there isn't enough space for them. It begs the question: when did it become acceptable to end a life simply because of a lack of space?

As a deeply concerned resident and a dog lover, it profoundly saddens me to see these lovable dogs fall prey to such unacceptable practices. This practice is not only inhumane but also a blatant disregard for the rights of animals who not only trust us but depend on us with their lives. There should, indeed there must, be a law protecting dogs like there is in other states.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) confirmed that around 670,000 dogs are euthanized across the country each year due to lack of space, a significant number of whom are in California. This horrifying figure needs to be zero.

We, as a society, should encourage the implementation of No Kill laws, enhancing the practice of animal adoption and improving space management of animal shelters. We need laws that mandate life-saving standards and practices in all of California shelters, ensuring every healthy and treatable homeless pet finds a loving home.

The time to act is now. Consider it a moral responsibility. Stand up, make your voice heard, let’s push for laws to prevent our loving dogs from being unnecessarily euthanized in California. Sign this petition and help us generate momentum towards making California a safer place for our furry friends. Sign for their rights, their lives, and their future. Together we can make a difference.
