Advocate for Increased Pay for Nurses

The Issue

Nurses, including Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs), play a crucial role in the healthcare industry. We are the backbone of patient care, working tirelessly at the frontline in hospitals, clinics, and homes across the nation. Yet, many of us find ourselves overworked, underpaid, and unappreciated. It's not just our health we risk while caring for those in need; it's also our families’ health and our personal lives. We miss family time, special occasions, and significant life events, such as our children's graduations, to fulfill our duties.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average salary for registered nurses in 2025 was approximately $75,330 per year; for Licensed Practical Nurses the average national Median salary is $59,730 per year.  But considering the extensive hours, emotional and physical strain, and the heightened risks, this compensation is often not commensurate with the responsibilities and sacrifices made. Moreover, many nurses report inadequate staffing levels and resources, adding to the stress and workload, potentially compromising patient care quality.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted these disparities. With over 100,000 healthcare workers testing positive for COVID-19 and many succumbing to the virus, the risks we take on daily have never been more apparent. The emotional toll is significant, as we navigate the challenges of treating those infected while safeguarding our own health and our loved ones.

To adequately reflect our contributions and ensure nurse retention in the healthcare industry, it is imperative that nurses receive fair compensation. Increased pay would not only help nurses provide for their families but also recognize the invaluable service they provide to society.

Let us stand together to urge healthcare institutions and policymakers to establish fairer pay rates for nurses. Join the cause to ensure that those who dedicate their lives to caring for others are likewise cared for. Sign the petition to advocate for just compensation for all nurses today.
