Advocate for Change at Our Skilled Nursing Facility!
The Issue
Every soul inside “Advanced” Rehab at Autumn Lake Healthcare, whether patient, employee, or visitor, deserves a clean environment with proper infection and pest control. A place where every person can smile with dignity instead of being silenced, neglected, and abused because it’s “not in (y)our budget.” Services, supplies, equipment, and wages should reflect the reimbursement this facility receives from Medicare and other insurance companies, instead of being fraudulently siphoned off of. We all matter and deserve better!
In the face of these challenges, it is imperative that we demand better working and rehabilitation conditions for not only patients and staff members but also for their families and loved ones. This facility will be held accountable for ensuring the availability of essential daily necessities crucial to the proper functioning of a skilled nursing facility. This includes gloves, alcohol-based hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, antibacterial soap, personal protective equipment (PPE), and all other hygiene and cleaning products required by law.
Moreover, we demand change, accountability, respect, and wages that truly reflect the appreciation of all employees. These are not just accessories but vital components of a safe and healthy environment for all. These changes are the only way to resist the everyday acceptance of the neglectful, rodent infested abuse we are all forced to endure under the hands of the ignorant, emotionless, and purposely blind and deaf administration, regional staff, and CEOs.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), maintaining stringent hygiene practices in healthcare facilities can significantly decrease infection rates, mortality, and improve overall welfare. This underscores the importance of our call to action at Advanced Rehab. Recent reports show an alarming rise in healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) due to inadequate sanitary conditions, making it clear that action is urgently needed.
Furthermore, the ongoing neglect of basic necessities like proper sanitation and pest control not only detriments physical health but also affects mental well-being. Employees, already strained by low wages, who do not even get common decency for their hard work, compassion, and experience are even further demoralized under such conditions. This is unacceptable and absolutely inexcusable.
By mandating specific changes, such as regular delivery of necessary hygiene products and implementing a thorough cleaning protocol, we can hold the facility’s poor excuse for management and the devilish greed of the CEOs accountable for the care and dignity they are supposed to provide by law and by faith. Let's push for transparency in terms of fund allocation and ensure that a portion of reimbursed funds is rightly invested back into enhancing our facility's care standards.
Not angry enough yet? I disgustingly regret to inform you, that as of next week, (September 8-12) administrators at Advanced Rehab will be on a corporate “retreat” with all expenses paid while the patients, staff, their families, and visitors continue to suffer physically, mentally, and emotionally at this facility. “Good Care, Good Times” is their slogan but obviously that’s referring to lining their pockets instead of making a difference in the communities they neglectfully “serve.”
Or what about the staff member that had to be transported out via 911 during work hours for cardiac symptoms because of the toxic and lethal environment we are forced to endure? Or the increase in autoimmune symptoms due to the festering stress, anxiety, or anguish in not only staff but patients and their family members as well. An environment that is a breeding ground for bullying starting from administration and working its way down to the helpless patients with dementia. What about the fear/tears in the eyes of employees, patients, and their families that they are forced to carry silently day in and day out for fear of retaliation against the narcissistic facility Administrator?
The administrator who will lie, happily to anyone’s face or ear and swears all complaints are new to her or have never been shared before despite plain evidence in every crack and crevice of this facility. She will use a patient’s state of mind and/or physical state as a weapon while lying right in front of the patient to their family and friends. “This is the first complaint I’ve ever heard of mice.” Despite rodent traps inside and outside of the facility, Google reviews, and pest control logs that state otherwise. Leading to emotional and psychological distress to the point of not only tears but patient’s reporting of suicidal ideations, with no mental health services provided even when reported.
Or the limited but vital rehabilitation supplies including walkers, wheelchairs, and mechanical lift pads that have to be stolen daily from patients to give to other patients; often not even sanitized before being shared. What about the malfunctioning therapy equipment, lack of adaptive equipment, or forced group therapies that hinders rehabilitation purposely for greedy cash flow. Or the silence from administrators as patients beg to be discharged but forced to stay against their will or be forced to leave against medical advice (AMA) without proper medication, services, or equipment to be discharged with; again all for their greedy CULT! That’s not to mention the failed communication of upcoming discharges to patient’s and their families despite the facility being required to provide patients with a Notice of Medicare Non-Coverage (NOMNC). What about the whispers of law suites on all units but especially unit two?
Sadly, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Dietary, maintenance, and laundry services haven’t even been discussed YET. Issues so bad it’s leading to increased AMAs, hospital re-admissions, infections, worsening health conditions, amputations, patients going missing for not just hours but days at a time, and death due to complete and utter fraud, waste, abuse, and neglect of MEDICARE funds. Which is absolutely illegal!
Conditions so severe that no employee alone or as a group can even attempt to make things right. We desperately need local, state, and federal agencies to come in and help every soul that has the misfortune of simply breathing in this facility. That’s also no exaggeration as mice, mold, and mildew are infested in every single A/C unit in every single room.
A rodent infestation so severe that the wires of powered recliner chairs that have been rigged together with zip ties are chewed through putting patients and everyone at risk for a fire. Imagine a patient that is unable to get up on their own, sitting in a recliner chair, notices smoke and/or a spark, they hit the call bell for assistance that doesn’t come for minutes to literal hours..I’ll let you paint the picture of what the result of that would look like and it’s only a matter of time!
Sign this petition to demand essential improvements in Advanced Rehab's operations. Our patients, dedicated staff, and loved ones deserve a safe, healthy, and supportive environment. Together, let’s stand for change, demand accountability, and ensure dignity and respect are valued in every corner of this facility. Resist the corporate greed. If you do not feel comfortable using your real name, make one up. Be a whistleblower and share! Share! Share! Let’s make this go viral!!
If these issues are not addressed and resolved in an urgent and respectable fashion a facility wide walk/call out plus a community PEACEFUL protest will occur simultaneously later this month. Including but not limited to patients past and present, family, friends, community activists, and employees from every department and every shift.
We demand change! We all deserve better than running ourselves ragged to the point of exhaustion, compassion fatigue, tears, anger, and rage! All of which we are forced to carry with us silently from room to room and hallway to hallway; bring home to our families or imploding on ourselves. The funds, resources, and laws are there. The choice is yours. We will advocate for change or for the facility to be rightfully shut down!!

📍It’s not a surprise the Administrator and DON are already breaking the law. No surprise there, they do it daily!! Putting fear in to ANY of us right now for not fighting for our rights as employees and citizens is absolutely retaliation against whistleblowers. Or trying to pull the “patient abandonment” card if an employee attends the protest; please the nursing team on the floor is basically all agency staff so there’s their solution. Not to mention employees, even on the clock could attend on their lunch break or 15 minute breaks; also required by law. Patient abandonment? When administrators and the DON get bonuses for using agency staff and running on a skeleton nursing crew each and every shift. VILE!! Keep it up, keep digging that grave you made for YOURSELF!! There are plenty of lawyers in our community that will work for you and you don’t have to pay until you get paid. A simple phone call and free consultation is all it takes!📍
!! IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE RESIST PEACEFULLY! THIS IS OUR PATIENT’S HOME!! SAFETY FOR ALL OVER EVERYTHING!! I BEG YOU!!!! WALK OUT IF THE ANGER GETS THAT BAD OR DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAFELY BUT VIOLENCE IS NEVER THE ANSWER! !!
