The Issue

Despite the current status of marijuana as a controlled substance, medical research has shown its potential in treating a variety of health conditions, including chronic pain, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimers, anxiety, depression and arthritis. However, many educational systems continue to portray marijuana exclusively as a dangerous drug, overlooking its potential as medicine. This is not a call for promoting drug use amongst students but rather a call for a balanced, science-based education that presents all facets of this complex subject.

According to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, medical marijuana laws do not increase adolescent marijuana use. This demonstrates that proper education and regulation can coincide without promoting substance abuse. Let's equip our students with accurate, unbiased information, enabling them to make informed decisions in the future. We urge educational authorities to revise curriculum materials related to drugs, specifically marijuana. Sign this petition to support a more comprehensive, accurate cannabis education in our schools.
