Advocate Fair Taxation and Public Service Benefits for Middle-Class, Private Sector Employees
The Issue
As middle-class, private sector employees, we find ourselves burdened by high taxes, including Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), Goods and Services Tax(GST), education tax, and numerous others, yet we do not receive just compensation through the services these taxes are meant to support. We continue to pay high school fees for our children, struggle with uncertain job security, lack access to quality, free-of-charge medical services, and find no government pension scheme in place to support us in our old age.
Despite contributing significantly to the nation's revenue, we seem to reap minimal benefits. It's worth noting that, according to the Income Tax Department, individual taxpayers contributed to nearly 23% of India's total tax revenue during the fiscal year 2018-19. Moreover, the middle class is the largest spender and supports the Indian economy, contributing significantly to the GDP. However, we seem to be the most impacted when it comes to amendments in tax laws and policies.
Ultimately, taxes should equate to public service benefits; we pay taxes, and in return, we should receive quality education for our children, stable job security, free and qualitative medical services, and a government pension scheme to ensure our secure and dignified retirement. This is not just a demand; it is a right to fair taxation and just allocation of resources.
Help us bring this issue to the attention of our policymakers. Sign this petition to demand an equitable tax system and the implementation of public service benefits commensurate with our tax contributions. Your signature can bring us a step closer to a just and fair system. Stand with us for economic justice.
