Petition updateStop the merger of Griffith's public high schools support option 2Community consultation period over time to get all the signatures in.

The community consultation period ended yesterday with the close of the questionnaire, as you would be aware the whole thing (including the media coverage) has been skewed towards option 1 even though the majority of the community is favouring option 2.
Well I guess we are about to find out how much they actually care about the community's choice. Even the Area News poll which was showing around 60% support for option 2, 20% for Option 3, and only 20% supporting Option 1 was never printed and has disappeared from their website which I find strange.
I will be forwarding this online petition and the comments to both Adrian Piccoli and Sauce Communications today and I urge anyone who printed the hard copies and have collected signatures to either fax or email a scanned copy to Adrian Piccoli at murray@parliament.nsw.gov.au or fax to (02) 6962 7725. And also send a copy to Sauce Communication at griffitheducation@saucecommunications.com.au or fax to (02) 6953 7383.
Please get them in as soon as possible and if you can't email or fax you can drop them to me by leaving them at the Berton Vineyards cellar door and I will scan and send them over.
We will find out soon enough what kind of democracy we live in and whether there were ever any options, or if this whole thing was another waste of our taxpayer money hiring a company like Sauce to ensure they skew the questionnaire and consultation session to come up with false results to support a decision they have already made. Remember this next time it comes to vote its the only way to make these politicians accountable for their actions, but unfortunately by then it will be too late for our schools and community.
Remember keep spreading the word, and don't fall for the rubbish they keep printing in the Area News. If the option 2 supporters use any of the many studies published on large schools over the last 20 years by many independent researchers they are quick to shoot it down but one study published by a government body (no conflict of interest here!!) and it's taken as fact. We all know its teachers who improve results not a bit of paint, a couple of demountables and some cabling for wireless access because let's face it that's pretty much all we are going to get if the government is spending the UP TO $25m.
That raises another question why were we never shown the plans for this new super school, or told exactly how the $25m would be spent and the simple answer is because they know if they did no-one would support option 1. Let's face it its nothing but a cost cutting exercise for this government and has nothing to do with student outcomes.
Let's keep making noise even though the consultation period is over and hopefully someone will listen and we can stop this ridiculous idea.
