We are overwhelmed, in the best way, by the support this community has shown. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

The number of signatures, shares, and messages we’ve received have meant more than we expected. It shows how much this community cares about doing right by all students.

Through this experience, we’ve also learned something important:

Families from many different faiths have reached out in support, sharing that their children face similar challenges when their religious observances do not align with the standard school calendar.

While this began with Ramadan and Eid, our ask of the Board is now even more important:
a consistent, religious accommodations plan that supports all students with sincerely held religious practices, especially those that fall outside the traditional spring (Easter) and winter (Christmas) break schedules.

DO NOT let others convince you that public schools do not have to provide reasonable religious accommodations. They do! These rights are protected by the Constitution and the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The truth is, we are more alike than we sometimes realize.
And every student deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

We’ve also added a 3/23 updates in the petition description with some additional examples and clarifications of what some of you felt was important, please take a moment to read it.

If you’ve already signed, we are asking for a final push:

1.Please share the petition.

  • Share it on your social media.
  • Text it to friends and family.
  • Send it through your parent groups and community channels.

Every share helps expand awareness and keeps this conversation moving forward.

2.If you are able to attend the board meeting in person, it would mean a lot to have visible community support in the room. Board of Education meeting tomorrow, March 24 at 7:00 PM - come to the front doors at Culver school.

3. For Culver school families specifically, we’ve also created a parent group to continue supporting our kids, not just on this issue, but across all aspects of their education. If you’d like to stay involved and connected, we’d love to have you join. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/16QqJcRBCQ/?mibextid=wwXIfr

This effort has always been about one thing: making sure all students are supported with clarity, consistency, and respect.

We’re almost there. Let’s finish strong!
