My name is Silvia Cazoll, I am 66 years old and I live in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. For more than 30 years I have suffered from multiple sclerosis and for the last 10 years I have been under treatment with the Gilenya medication from the Novartis Laboratory.

Exactly a year ago I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Both my neurologist and my clinical doctor instructed me to immediately discontinue the Gilenya treatment. As a result, the suspicion arose that the drug was the cause or a factor in the development of pancreatic cancer.

The reported side effects of the drug refer to different types of cancer (lymphoma and skin cancer), but not pancreatic. The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) has to investigate whether this drug can cause cancers as a sequel that are not informed in the package insert.

I also want to know if there are more cases like mine, more patients who have had to abandon Gilenya treatment due to the appearance of another disease.
