Address Unfair Grading and Bias in Donna Digiobbi's English Class

The Issue

We, the students of Mrs. Donna Digiobbi’s sophomore English class at Foothill High School, are deeply concerned about the lack of fairness and impartiality in her grading practices. A grading system should be objective and balanced, yet we have collectively observed favoritism in the classroom. Certain students receive leniency and favorable treatment, while others experience unjustly harsh grading, creating an inequitable academic environment.

Additionally, Mrs. Digiobbi’s open display of displeasure toward particular students undermines their confidence and negatively impacts their academic performance. Research from the American Psychological Association highlights the importance of fair and constructive feedback in student success, yet biased grading and inconsistent treatment compromise this principle.

Such behavior does not align with the professional conduct expected of educators and contradicts the values of fairness and integrity in our education system. We, therefore, urge the administration of Foothill High School to take these concerns seriously and investigate Mrs. Digiobbi’s grading practices and classroom conduct.

We call on our peers, parents, and faculty members to support this cause by signing this petition. Together, we can advocate for a learning environment that is fair, inclusive, and supportive of all students.
