In recent months, our community in Thundersley Benfleet has been plagued by a worrying rise in traffic accidents along Hart Road. Just this month,  yet another crash, marking the third incident I've seen this year alone. Each time, it's the same story: reckless, speeding drivers endangering lives. The terrifying sound of screeching tires, followed by a gut-wrenching crash, has become all too familiar to us living nearby.

Hart Road, once a safe passage for daily commutes, school runs, and leisurely walks, now seems more like a race track. According to recent data from local authorities, speed-related incidents in our area have increased by 25% over the past year. This is unacceptable and something needs to be done urgently to bring safety back to our neighbourhood.

It's time for local authorities to take concrete, immediate action. We propose the installation of speed cameras to act as a strong deterrent against speeding. Furthermore, revisiting and enforcing lower speed limits can provide an additional layer of safety. Coupled with these measures, we urge for the introduction of regular police patrols along Hart Road, particularly during peak traffic hours.
