Address security concerns at ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

Subject: Formal Appeal Regarding Security Concerns and Venue Neutrality for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

"Dear ICC Management and Organizing Committee,

As a passionate cricket enthusiast who believes that sports are a symbol of global beauty and unity, I am writing to share my deep concerns regarding the participation of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in the upcoming 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Cricket is a sport enjoyed by millions, and its beauty lies in fairness and safety. Currently, the geopolitical tension between Bangladesh and India is a matter of great concern. Given the present environment, there are significant risks regarding the safety of Bangladeshi players, support staff, journalists, and fans if matches are held in India. It is my understanding that the BCB has requested a venue change for their matches due to these unavoidable security threats.

I am deeply saddened to hear reports that instead of considering these genuine safety concerns, the ICC has allegedly pressured the BCB to play in India or face exclusion from the tournament. Forcing a regular participant like Bangladesh out of the World Cup would not only diminish the beauty of the tournament but also violate the principles of neutrality and human rights that a global body like the ICC should uphold.

In the interest of the sport and the safety of human lives, I strongly urge the ICC to:

Reconsider the request for a venue change for Bangladesh’s matches, possibly moving them to a neutral location like Sri Lanka or any other suitable country.

Prioritize safety over financial considerations. While venue changes may involve logistical costs, the integrity of the game and the lives of the participants are far more valuable than monetary profit.

Uphold fairness. Every member nation has the right to voice their security concerns. A forced decision will only damage the global reputation of the ICC in the eyes of cricket fans worldwide.

I fully stand with the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s request for a safe and neutral venue. I hope the ICC will act as a fair governing body and make a decision that ensures a peaceful and inclusive World Cup for everyone.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
