Address Overtime Payment Injustice at FPM Peat Moss in Manitoba
The Issue
For too long, my coworkers and I have allegedly been underpaid and overworked by FPM Peat Moss, a division of Sungro Horticulture. We are hardworking individuals who dedicate ourselves to maintaining the quality and consistency of horticultural products, but we have allegedly been unjustly denied fair payment for our overtime labor. This is more than just a payroll error; this is alleged wage theft, plain and simple.
Wage theft is a severe issue that affects workers’ rights and livelihoods across Manitoba and beyond. Allegedly miscalculating or deliberately neglecting to pay overtime wages not only violates basic labor laws but also erodes trust and morale among employees. Many of us believe we are owed thousands of dollars in unpaid overtime, and it’s time FPM Peat Moss addresses these allegations.
We demand that FPM Peat Moss take the necessary steps to rectify this situation immediately. This includes calculations to determine the full extent of any unpaid wages, issuing corrective payments to all affected employees for the alleged unpaid overtime, and publicly addressing this alleged wrongdoing with a formal apology. These actions are not just necessary for justice but also to restore trust and integrity within the workplace.
Numerous reputable studies indicate that wage theft is a widespread problem, estimated to cost Canadian workers billions annually. Many workers are trapped in a cycle of working excessive hours without proper compensation, diminishing their quality of life and financial security. FPM Peat Moss now has the opportunity to lead by example, showing that corporations can and should uphold ethical labor practices.
Sign this petition to pressure FPM Peat Moss and Sungro Horticulture to correct any errors and ensure proper compensation for their employees. Together, let’s stand up for workers’ rights and demand fair treatment for every laborer in Manitoba. Your signature can help amplify our voices and demand accountability from those in power.
