The Issue

I am compelled to share my personal story in hopes of bringing about change and justice for all those affected by the negligence at Goodmayes Hospital. This is not just for me, but for everyone who uses this service and may face life-threatening consequences without urgent reform. My heart aches every day for those who have suffered, or worse, lost their lives due to lack of proper care.

Goodmayes Hospital, situated in Ilford, East London, is supposed to be a beacon of hope and recovery for individuals facing mental health challenges. Yet, instead of providing care, its negligence has caused unnecessary suffering and even death. , deaths happeing inside the walls  while others have tragically taken their own lives shortly after being assessed and deemed well enough to leave It's a heartbreaking reality that demands immediate attention and action.

Something seriously needs to be done about this hospital. It should have been shut down years ago. There have been far too many deaths connected to this place, including cases the wider community may never even hear about. People are becoming so afraid of seeking help there that they would rather stay at home and suffer in silence until they reach breaking point than turn to this hospital for support. No one should feel safer suffering alone than asking a hospital for help. This cannot continue to be ignored.

According to numerous patient testimonials and available health reports, issues like under staffing, outdated facilities, and inadequate staff training have plagued the institution.   rather to discharge a patient to save workload. when the patient she never have been discharged. The pressure to handle an influx of patients with limited resources only compounds these problems, creating a toxic environment where patients' well-being is compromised. goodmayes hospital is by far completely inadequate or effective and definitely not SAFE or  CARING

The families and patients have repeatedly voiced their concerns to management, and yet, the systemic issues persist. This negligence is not just a failure of policy but a profound moral failing that needs to be addressed to further.

There are serious concerns that require urgent independent investigation regarding medication management, patient observations, privacy, discharge planning and the overall quality of care provided at Goodmayes Hospital. Concerns have been raised by patients and families about whether medication is consistently prescribed, reviewed and administered in accordance with national guidance, including STOMP principles where applicable, most are woken from there sleep in the middle of the night to be given strong PRN  and within authorised prescribing instructions. Reports have also questioned whether PRN medication is always given only when clinically indicated and appropriately documented. In addition, concerns have been expressed regarding patients’ dignity and privacy, including reports that appropriate measures to respect personal privacy may not always be followed. most patients who are suppose to be on 1-1 support or even 2-1 there staff are sleeping on. Further concerns relate to the discharge of patients with complex mental health needs, with questions being raised about whether discharge decisions are consistently supported by comprehensive multidisciplinary assessments, appropriate aftercare arrangements and timely access to specialist services, including psychiatric intensive care where clinically indicated. most patients are discharged without any change or any input. and most times were they should not even be discharged There have also been reports raising concerns about the consistency and quality of enhanced observation for patients assessed as being at high risk of self-harm or suicide. These concerns should be independently examined through a thorough review of clinical records, incident reports, governance systems and any other available evidence to determine whether standards of care have been met and to ensure that any necessary improvements are implemented to protect patient safety and wellbeing.

I plead with the local health authorities, the National Health Service (NHS) management, and relevant governmental bodies to conduct a thorough investigation into the practices and conditions at Goodmayes Hospital. It's crucial to hold accountable those responsible for the lapses in care and to ensure immediate rectification through increased funding, better training for staff, and upgraded facilities.

For the countless families whose lives have been forever changed by the loss of a loved one due to the lack of care and negligence of this hospital.

We must act to transform Goodmayes Hospital into a safe haven for recovery, not a place of fear and neglect. Please join me in demanding accountability and reform to protect the lives and dignity of all patients. Sign this petition and help bring about the change we desperately need.

We are not asking for a simple disciplinary action, a minor internal review, or another promise that things will improve. We are demanding significant and decisive action against this hospital. There must be a full, independent investigation into the serious and repeated failings within this hospital, including every safeguarding concern, every preventable death, every discharge decision, and the treatment patients have received. Those responsible for negligence or misconduct must be held fully accountable through the appropriate regulatory and legal processes. This hospital has failed too many vulnerable people. We are calling for urgent intervention by the relevant authorities to determine whether it is safe to continue operating in its current form. If the investigation finds widespread or systemic failings, enforcement action must be taken, including changes to leadership, sanctions where appropriate, and any other measures necessary to protect patients.

People seeking help deserve a hospital that is safe, caring, effective, responsive, and wellled. Until meaningful action is taken, lives will continue to be placed at unnecessary risk.
