I recently lost a dear friend in Scotland Correctional Institute due to the inhumane and overcrowded conditions that persist within its walls. My friend, like many others, was simply trying to serve his time and return home to his family. Instead, he was trapped in an environment that lacked the necessary medical care and resources, ultimately leading to his untimely death. It is heart-wrenching to think that those who are incarcerated are being subjected to such deplorable conditions.

The state of the Scotland Correctional Institute is alarming, with reports of overcrowding leading to increased violence and deaths.
