HAWAIIANS need your HELP NOW! The Hawai`i Department of Agriculture is waiting on the 'Letter of Consent' from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration TODAY!!! Richard Hall at NOAA has not yet submitted their Letter of Consent' for the 10 TONS of RAT POISON to be 'crop-dusted' across the Hawaiian Island of Lehua. The Department of Agriculture is waiting for this 'Letter of Consent' before approving the final permit for the Poison Drop. We have been told by government officials that IF the Department of Agriculture receives this 'Letter of Consent' from NOAA today, that the helicopters WILL BEGIN spraying RAT POISON on the sacred island of Lehua first thing TOMORROW MORNING! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP! Call Scott Enright: 808-973-9550 And email NOAA: richard.hall@noaa.gov Ian.lundgren@noaa.gov Pia.brown@noaa.gov STOP THE DROP NOW!!! This RAT POISON is being purchased from Bell Laboratories. Bell Laboratories helps to fund the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who was contracted through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to implement this helicopter drop of 10 tons of 'RESTRICTED USE' Rat Poison on the island of Lehua, and all over her delicate wildlife habitats. Below are QUOTES from/and links to Bell Laboratories own SAFETY DATA SHEETS in regards to the two anticoagulant 'RESTRICTED USE' Rat Poison, Diphacinone, they plan to arerial spray beginning TOMORROW MORNING, and a subsequent Rat Poison Drop of the even MORE TOXIC POISON once they determine that the first applications didn't eradicate all of the rats. From Bell Laboratories: Diphacinone http://www.belllabs.com/images/uploaded_files/files/0000/1005/12455-136_PCQ_Pro_SDS.pdf SECTION 5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES Special hazards arising from the mixture: High temperature decomposition or burning in air can result in the formation of toxic gases, which may include carbon monoxide. * [What might happen in the event that a helicopter refuels and loads a fresh batch of Diphacinone, and then (due a mechanical failure, bird strike, or pilot error) crashes and combusts on Ni`ihau on/near the fueling station and Diphacinone storage area?] SECTION 11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Reproductive Toxicity: No data SECTION 12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION Ecotoxicity Effects: This product is extremely toxic to fish, birds and other wildlife. Dogs and predatory and scavenging mammals and birds might be poisoned if they feed upon animals that have eaten this bait. Do not apply this product directly to water or to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Runoff also may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in water adjacent to treated areas. Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment wash water or rinsate.
Bioaccumulative potential: Not determined. Diphacinone water solubility is extremely low (< 0.1mg/l). * [when sunlight is combined with water, as in the ocean, Diphacinone becomes far more soluble. Will this increase the chance of contaminating fish and other aquatic life before the toxic chemicals reach the ocean floor?] SECTION 15. REGULATORY INFORMATION Precautionary Statements: Contains the anticoagulant Diphacinone which may cause bleeding if ingested. Harmful if swallowed or absorbed through the skin. Keep away from children, domestic animals and pets. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. * [this section above states that Diphacinone can be absorbed through the skin. It is also easily absorbed through the mucus membranes. Is this also the case for monk seals, sea turtles, whales, fish, etc.?] ******** From Bell Laboratories, Inc.'s Safety Data Sheet: Brodifacoum http://www.belllabs.com/images/uploaded_files/files/0000/0914/12455-91_Final_Rodenticide_RTU_Place_Pacs_0115.pdf 5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES Special hazards arising from the mixture: High temperature decomposition or burning in air can result in the formation of toxic gases, which may include carbon monoxide and traces of bromine and hydrogen bromide. 11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Reproductive Toxicity: Final Rodenticide RTU Place Pacs: No data. 12.
