Since 2017, Deaf Action NZ Inc has been campaigning to have NZ Sign Language (NZSL) added to NZ Aircraft Safety Videos (On aircraft that have digital video services such as the retracting video displays in aricraft). 

Air NZ and CAA NZ have been relucant to add NZSL to change the policy to allow this to happen.

The current policy requires Air Safety Cabin Videos to be in English only. 

We're requesting NZSL to be added as English isn't every Deaf traveller first language and it's easier to understand the air safety information in sign language.

CAA NZ is currently consulting with the community over changes to their CAA NZ policies.

Deadline for submissions is 22 April. 

We are going to add this petition and the signatures to our submission to CAA NZ.
