Last year, my friend and fellow campaigner, Fahma Mohamed of Integrate Bristol, launched a petition and campaigned to meet the then Education Secretary, Michael Gove, demanding that his department took action on female genital mutilation (FGM). Now, I'd really really like to meet Nicky Morgan, the current Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities. I'd like to take this petition to her, and to bring suggestions of key female political thinkers that deserve to be on the syllabus. I'd like to talk to her, face to face, to understand why she's overseeing such changes, (the removal of feminism, the classification of the Suffrage movement as a 'pressure group' etc) and to see if we can get a more representative curriculum. Can you join me in putting pressure on Nicky Morgan? Please tweet, email, or use whatever medium you can think of to let her know this. Tell you friends, your family and your lovers to join in. I'm not scary. I'm just a teenage girl asking that we don't have a sexist curriculum. Which isn't a huge ask, if you think about it, considering the state of gender equality and women's liberation in the world. It's be great to have your support on this.
