Members of the community and parents of students in Riverview School would like to see Grade 7 and 8 added to the school. We are the last school in Brandon to only have Kindergarten to Grade 6. A few of the reason we would like to see this happen are it would make students transition to high school easier if they could stay in the same school for grades 7 and 8. Having these additional grades at the school would provide continuity, stability, and reduce the anxiety associated with moving to a new environment. It would also help build a stronger community among students, parents, and teachers. Studies have shown that students benefit academically and socially from a stable school environment during their early teenage years.
