"Trained Service Cats should have the same level of status as a service dog or horse. A cat has many of the same abilities of a dog but for a lot of people they are easier to maintain. Not everyone needs an animal to guide them, pull them or pick up items. A cat can do such important things such as warn a person if they are going to have a seizure, alert those with hearing impairments, if someone has low or high blood sugar. By signing this petition we can get cats certified as a service animal and this would open up the world to many people that now are restricted from enjoying the life others take for granted." - L.H We the people of the US of America ask that Cats be added back to the state and federal ADA laws regarding service animals. L.H. makes some wonderful points about service animals and how they are helpful for those with disabilities. My own handler is training me to be a service animal. Sadly, due to some states following suit with the federal ADA service anaimal law changes, cats are not legal service animals in all states. Many have already trained cats to be service animals or are in the works of training cats to be their service animals and will receive no state or federal protections from discrimination. All service animal owners who use animals other then dogs and mini horses ask you all to please review these laws again, and help change them to protect all people with disabilities not just those who have a dog or a mini horse.
