We're carrying outdated plastic cards.

At BYU, our student IDs are essential—they get us into the gym, unlock classroom doors, work at vending machines, and pay for meals. But they wear out quickly, stop swiping properly, and are incredibly easy to lose. Replacing them costs money and creates hassles for us and the university.

The solution already exists.

Universities across the country have added student IDs to Apple Wallet. Students tap their phones and go—no fumbling for cards, no worries about forgetting their ID at home. It's secure, convenient, and works with technology we already carry everywhere.

Why BYU should do this:

• The world is going digital. Utah driver's licenses are moving to digital wallets. Let's move student IDs there too.
• It saves money. Fewer replacement cards means lower costs for students and the university.
• It's better for the environment. Less plastic waste from damaged or replaced cards.
• It just works. Apple's technology is proven and ready—BYU just needs to implement it.
