Vision Australia Radio, Blind Citizens Australia and other blindness organisations in Australia
Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for all of your continued support in getting to almost 7,000 signatures! How Amazing! I just wanted to update you all on the other organisations that have shared and commented on the petition so far, and encourage you to continue taking action!
Blind Citizens Australia
BCA included me and this petition in their newsletter yesterday, writing the following:
Support Tiana by signing a petition addressed to Netflix to make a loved show Audio Described
Meet a remarkable 20-year-old from Brisbane, Queensland – a passionate Gilmore Girls fan who's seen the series over 50 times! Tiana, being a person who is blind, has embarked on a mission to make her favourite show more accessible.
With over 6,000 signatures already, her petition aims to add audio descriptions to Gilmore Girls, and she's seeking the support of BCA’s members to amplify her impact. Join her movement to pave the way for accessibility in older shows by signing the online petition.
Vision Australia
The much loved blindness organisation, Vision Australia, has agreed to interview me regarding the petition and how it will impact the future of Audio Description. The interview will air in the next few weeks, and I will update you all once that happens.
Vickie Anderson and Associates
This orientation and mobility business supported my petition by sharing it on their Facebook page and by email to their lovely community.
Braille House
This wonderful local organisation has also agreed to share this petition on their social media pages and via email to the local community to spread awareness.
Karen Williams - Mayor of Redlands City
Mayor Williams, of my local area, has stated that she is encouraged by the positive change she sees through this petition.
These are just some of the businesses, companies and organisations that have positively contributed to this cause, and I am grateful to all for their generous and caring support towards my petition. I cannot wait to see where it goes from here.
Remember: you can still take action! Share the petition via your social media to your local community and contact Warner Bros. and Netflix via the social media profiles listed in the previous update. Help me make Gilmore Girls, and TV in general, accessible to all!!
