This Bill S 0199 is important to me because my only child/son Kenneth Devon Long Jr. "Peanut" was killed on 8/12/2013 as a flagman in a Work Zone area by someone who was driving to fast for conditions and improper brakes.  This was Kenneths first plubic job and he was really excited.  Kenneth was only 22 years old and had his whole life ahead of him.  Because of this man Kenneth will never get married, have children, nor will he be able to enjoy his life on this earth.  Kenneth was running for his life when the man never hit his brakes even though this man drove though this Work Zone that morning and knew they were there,  when he came back though that evening. I would like to also delete Section (I) of this Bill because it is the responsibility of the driver to ensure that his/her vehicle is in good working condition.  If Kenneth would have lived he would have been a vegetable for the rest of his life because this man was distracted and not paying attention to all the signs and flagman in the Work Zone area.  The NEW Bill S 0199 in the Senate would change a lot by adding more fines, more points on his/her drivers license & help pay for work zone safety law enforcement,  but I feel that its not enough.  Ask yourself a question?  Who is going to enforce these laws when there are already signs up that state Speeding In Work Zone is a $200.00 fine and 30 days in jail.  Nobody enforces that!  Thats why I am asking everyone to please sign this petition for Speeding In Work Zone and adding a section "PEANUT'S" LAW.   Just to let everyone know this man was only given 2 tickets (1) driving to fast for conditions, $155.00 fine and a few points off his license, (2) Improper braking system, $155.00 fine and a few points off his license.  Thats a total of $310.00 for my sons life in Williamsburg County S.C..

I have spoken to the Solictors in Willaimsburg County twice where the accident happened and they keep telling me that there is not enough evidence to press any more charges on this man.  He took a life, wouldnt that be enough!
