Boise Avenue Petition

Boise Avenue Petition
The Issue
We are reaching out to you, our neighbors, in an effort to make Boise Avenue a safer experience for vehicles and pedestrians. Boise Avenue is experiencing the pressures from the development of thousands of homes in the Harris Ranch and surrounding new developments. The 35 miles per hour speed limit creates unsafe driving and pedestrian conditions for residents in adjacent neighborhoods and homes. It is no longer safe to enter or cross Boise Avenue. Please help your neighborhood by signing the petition to lower the speed limit to 30 mph with the request for several street and sidewalk upgrades.
- We the citizens of Boise request Ada County Highway District to reduce the speed limit on Boise Avenue between Law Avenue and Eckert Road to 30 MPH.
- We the citizens of Boise request the addition of (2) electronic speed signs between Holcomb Road and Eckert Road.
- We the citizens of Boise request Ada County Highway District add a sidewalk on the North side of Boise Avenue between Holcomb Road and Bown Way with a lighted pedestrian crosswalk on the West side of Holcomb Road to the North side of Boise Avenue.
The current speed limit for 3.3 miles (the majority) of Boise Avenue is 30 MPH between Capital Blvd. and Law Avenue. The speed limit increases to 35 MPH for 1.3 miles between Law Avenue and Eckert Road, the heaviest residential section of Boise Avenue. The 35 MPH section between Law Avenue and Eckert Road does not include a median or business storefronts like the 30 MPH section between Capital Blvd and Law Avenue. Other streets in Southeast Boise with a marked speed limit of 35 MPH are: Parkcenter Blvd. a (6) lane road with stop lights, medians, and no residential driveways, Amity and East Warm Springs Avenue, with no residential driveways. Boise Avenue is a residential (2) lane road with no medians and no businesses East of Law Avenue and Eckert Road. With the development of thousands of homes in Harris Ranch, Boise Avenue is no longer a low traffic anterior road. Boise Avenue connects both automobiles AND pedestrians with the Bown Library, the Boise Green Belt, the Boise River, Bown Crossing, Riverside Elementary, East Jr. High, and Timberline High School.
