I am a regular employee in an Office Supplies company and I, like so many others in the retail sector, endure aggressive and abusive behavior from customers on a daily basis. The unacceptable nature of this torment is not unique to me, or to those in my line of work. Retail is the 2nd most popular occupation in Australia, involving millions of hardworking individuals who are regularly subjected to verbal and physical abuse.

This is not a situation that can be allowed to continue. We are human beings, deserving of respect and basic decencies, yet find ourselves consistently mistreated in our places of work. We call on all Australians, New Zealanders and people around the globe to recognise our distress and join our cause. We ask for your aid against the daily harm that we suffer. 

We are not merely calling for public support, we are also appealing to the Australian government and SDA union to take action. It is time for regulations that protect retail employees from abusive behavior and offer redress when such incidents occur.

I appeal to every one of you, help us make our workplaces safer. Stand with us against customer abuse in the retail sector.
