DO NOT DECRIMINALISE HARD DRUGS IN THE ACT

DO NOT DECRIMINALISE HARD DRUGS IN THE ACT
The issue
There is a bill before the ACT Legislative assembly which seeks to decriminalise small quantities of hard drugs, namely; ice, heroin, cocaine & methamphetamines. We fear that this bill, as currently worded, will lead to an increase in drug use, especially by young people.
We request that the Assembly not proceed with this bill, and if it is brought on for debate, vote against it and instead improve rehabilitation facilities for drug users. We would also request that a comprehensive education campaign be funded to warn people, especially young and less fortunate people, of the dangers involved in using illicit drugs.
The members of the ACT Legislative Assembly have the power to stop this bill becoming reality, simply by voting against it, should it be brought forward for debate.
