Receive a refund on tuition, residence, and the meal plan from Acadia University.

The Issue

With the current global pandemic happening, many places of business, worship, education, etc. have closed down, including Acadia University. Premier McNeil ordered all Nova Scotia students to be back home no later than March 22, 29 days before school was supposed to end. Acadia took this one step further by asking those students from New Brunswick and PEI to go home as well to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Many schools in the province, such as Dalhousie University and St. Mary's University have stated on their websites that they will be giving refunds to students for the services that they did not fully receive, specifically residence and the meal plan. Acadia posted on their website that they will NOT be giving refunds at this time, the reason being that since teaching continues, residences are operating, and meal hall continues to serve food for students unable to go home.

As students were told that they must leave, Acadia should be refunding the services that went unused. If an airline cancels your flight, no matter what the circumstance, they make accommodations for you. The same should apply here, and students should receive a refund dating from March 22-April 19. Despite what Acadia says on their website, many classes did not continue to operate and were cancelled for the year. Meal hall has significantly reduced the amount of food they need to make, and hardly anyone remains in residence.

Please help students receive a refund for schooling they did not get.
