Avenger: Endgame has just come out and is taking the world by storm. While it is too early to tell, I personally want to make it known that Avengers: Endgame is a cultural phenomenon that deserves recognition for being a true piece of cinematic art. While, yes, Black Panther and The Dark Knight are rare exceptions, the Academy has yet to recognize major blockbusters well deserving in the major categories such as Best Actor or Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Director, and Best Picture. Superhero films in general have had a hard time breaking through the Academy Awards and, while plenty of times in the past these films have had Oscar worthy performances, direction, and film making prowess, Avengers: Endgame deserves the same treatment as epics such as Avatar and Lord of the Rings for delivering epic battles and storytelling culminating in a worldwide extravaganza and it should not be ignored or, at the very least, have a shot at the title. I hope this petition is not needed in influencing this decision, I just want it to be known.
