Abolish the restrictive Town and Country Planning Act 1990

Abolish the restrictive Town and Country Planning Act 1990
The Issue
We are a nation being held back from exercising our basic right of constructing a home on our own land. The issue lies at the core of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, which has drastically changed how homeownership is viewed in our society. These strict regulations are a glaring sign of governmental overreach, with overbearing implications on housing, economy, health, and safety.
In a time when property ownership was less complicated, if a person wanted to build a home, they meerly needed to make it be safe, fit for human habitation, and have good ventilation, etc.. Yet now, modern homes are even exempt from some of these basic human rights. We believe homeownership should not be a luxury for the privileged, but a right for everyone. Now, we must first get permission to build even the most basic of structures, and if even a small percentage of the people in our country find it un-needed, ugly, just don't want you, or if there's someone on the council with a vested interest, then you will simply be denied your right to homeownership. The same can be said for the building of businesses and public infrastructure. In the past The majority of the slack was picked up by businesses and the minority was actually done by local councils etc. ever since the Town and Country Planning Act of 1990 businesses could no-longer build as much or as easily and therefore have vastly fallen behind their prior activity, all the while the government and councils have continuously cut funding for public infrastructure and so much more.
There is a reason so much of our infrastructure is so outdated, so stupidly expensive to even get off the ground, why it takes so long to even agree to build a 1 mile stretch of a railway, who's route was already agreed upon at an earlier date; the reason is the Town and Country Planning Act of 1990.
The Town and Country Planning Act 1990 has been perpetuated by the Conservative government and aided by others, creating a toxic environment for homeowners and businesses alike. It is a stark reminder of the distance between the common citizen and the luxuries our governmental officials enjoy.
We are calling for a revision of this legislation. In its current form, it disadvantages not only us who desire to build homes and businessses on our grounds but also the entire British public who bear the brunt of a stagnant economic growth and compromised safety standards.
Together, we can urge the government to reconsider the Act's limitations and bring about a more balanced, sensible approach to housing laws. If you believe in the fundamental right of property, safety, and economic growth, we implore you to stand with us. Your signature can make a difference. Sign the petition today.
