Abolish the Inequitable Voice Ban/Penalty System in Call of Duty

The Issue

I am reaching out, as a dedicated member of the Call of Duty (CoD) community, to stand against the voice ban and penalty system currently in place. Many of us feel it is being implemented without proper consideration for our rights. It not only suppresses the very essence of the gaming community – open communication and exchange of ideas – but distorts the spirit of the First Amendment. It is an infringement on our freedom of speech, a freedom we hold dear. I am not alone when I say that this seems unjust and is causing harm to the CoD community, a place known for its free-hearted players who may occasionally be audacious but undeniably are passionate about the game.

I would also like to point out the Activision supports one community the most (LGBTQ) which is unfair to the rest of the COD community. Our first amendment should not be taken away just because someone got their feelings hurt.

Understanding that every gaming community needs certain regulations for maintaining peace and order, we agree that restrictions on offensive or abusive speech could be necessary. However, the current voice ban/penalty system is blanket enforcement, and it lacks a clear guideline – making it far from being fair and effective.

In today’s world, human rights in digital spaces have become an integral part of discourse. According to a United Nations report, freedom of expression must extend in the same way it is implemented in the offline world. This underlines the need for game developers like Activision (the company behind Call of Duty) to respect their players' rights.

This petition serves to urge Activision to re-assess their stance, lending consideration to their loyal fan base's concerns. Let's work towards a system that upholds our right to express and communicate, while providing room for regulatory measures that respect the spirit of gaming. Sign the petition for a more balanced, fair Call of Duty experience.
