Abolish the following public agencies in the Province of Alberta
The Issue
The following is based on an email I wrote to the Honourable Danielle Smith, MLA, & the Honourable Justin Wright, MLA:
As a ten year supporter of the Taxpayers Federation, I am unsettled by the growth of the provincial debt. According to DebtClock.ca, Alberta's debt is nearing 88 billion dollars, & climbing. As a younger Albertan, I want to see the Government of Alberta, whether within or without Confederation, remain a lean, fiscally-conservative, financially-solvent institution.
I have gone through the list of public agencies on alberta.ca, & I present to you the following list of twenty public agencies that I believe, in the best interests of Alberta's fiscal future, ought to be abolished, along with a summary as to why I believe each ought to be defunded.
- Advisory Council on Alberta-Ukraine Relations
I do not believe that the Province of Alberta, especially before we achieve independence, should have any sort of commissions or councils dedicated to specific ethnic or national relations - especially those which are neither in the Anglosphere nor in the Americas.
- Alberta Anti-Racism Advisory Council
I believe it was Leon Trotsky, one of the top revolutionaries that overthrew the Romanov monarchy, who coined the term "racism", calling it as a bourgeois invention to divide the workers. Whether or not this is true, it is difficult to dispute that the "anti-racism" movement is heavily influenced, even controlled, by cultural Marxists whose worldview is almost entirely incompatible with the values of most Albertans.
- Alberta Black Advisory Council
Same as the previous two.
- Alberta Foundation for the Arts
Much as I admire bold, avante-garde art, I resent artists being given taxpayer subsidies to create art, especially when many of us work for minimum wage & live paycheque to paycheque.
- Alberta Human Rights Commission
What does this organisation accomplish that the bona fide courts do not?
What in the Alberta Human Rights Act accomplishes what the Alberta Bill of Rights does not?
- Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation
Same as the first two.
- Alberta Innovates
I am opposed to both corporate tax & to corporate welfare.
- ATB Financial
Should the Government of Alberta be involved in the banking industry at all?
- Family Violence Death Review Committee
Seems heartfelt, but also superfluous.
- Fatality Review Board
Same as the previous.
- First Nations Women's Council on Economic Security
Same as the first two.
- Horse Racing Appeal Tribunal
Why the heck does this exist??
- Indigenous Wisdom Advisory Panel
I believe Alberta ought to pursue an unwritten policy of state deism, & should not join the federal trend of treating First Nations' spirituality as the de facto state religion.
- Invest Alberta Corporation
Same as Alberta Innovates
- Premier's Council on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit Plus People
Highly special interest
- Premier's Council on Multiculturalism
Multiculturalism has been Canada's state religion since the Canadian Multiculturalism Act was passed. Since then, Canadian culture has been in a steep decline.
The Premier of Alberta ought to put Alberta & its long-term residents first, not orbitters & assorted residents of convenience.
- Premier's Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities
Again, highly special interest.
- Provincial Committee on Tobacco and Vaping
Highly special interest, something that perhaps might be better handled by AHS.
- Strategic Aviation Advisory Council
This seems superfluous.
- Travel Alberta
Perhaps superfluous, would need to lay out unshakeable evidence that the tourist revenue it brings to Alberta is far in excess of the taxpayer cost it eats.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taking into consideration the state of depression Canada is in, I hope that you will take a sober look at the value Albertans get out of the above public agencies, & find ways to trim, or outright eliminate, these from future provincial budgets.
