In my journey as a passionate American citizen, I have often felt my voice suppressed by the electoral college system. It dawned upon me that instead of a democratic process where every vote counts, in the status quo, a select group the electoral college, determines who our leaders are to be. This feels like a betrayal to all Americans who believe they have a voice in electing their leaders. The electoral college often sides with the candidate they want, diminishing the value of our individual votes and silently smothering our cries for democratic representation, regardless of the popular vote. This isn't just my anguish - it is an experience shared by millions of my fellow Americans.

According to a study by Pew Research Center, a striking 58% of Americans are in favor of electing the president via a national popular vote over maintaining the electoral college system.
