Abolish the 75% Board Result Requirement for JEE MAINS and JEE ADVANCED

The Issue

This petition starts with a personal story. A close friend of mine who dreamed of studying at IIT scored an impressive 96% in JEE MAINS, only to have those dreams shattered because he fell below the arbitrary 75% board requirement. Understandably, this setback has left him feeling depressed and demotivated. It's not just his dream that's being crushed, this rule impacts hundreds of deserving students across our nation.

Every year, thousands of students prepare tirelessly for JEE MAINS and JEE ADVANCED, dreaming of a seat in the prestigious engineering institutions of India. Many of these talented young individuals, however, do not meet the 75% board exam criteria, in spite of their detailed understanding and high scores in the JEE.

The insistence on this standard is not reflective of an individual's overall competence or their ability to succeed in engineering studies. Today's educators and teachers consistently highlight the fact that board results should not be the sole criterion for assessing a student's academic prowess. By securing high scores in JEE MAINS and JEE ADVANCED, these students have already demonstrated their aptitude for engineering.

The board result requirement is not just demotivating but also exclusionary, disregarding the talents and efforts of numerous deserving students. Change is needed. It's time to put an end to the 75% board result requirement for JEE MAINS and JEE ADVANCED. Let merit and talent be the only determining factor for a student's dream for a future in engineering.

We urge the concerned authorities to reconsider this rule and focus on the actual aptitude of students, rather than their board exam scores. Let our friend's story inspire this change. Sign this petition to help rewrite future students' stories. Don't let an outdated regulation stop them from pursuing careers in engineering.
