I am a resident of North Carolina. With the high cost of living and the difficulty in affording basic necessities such as groceries, the annual personal property tax on vehicles is an additional burden that seems unjustifiable. This tax is not fair to us, the taxpayers. It's an extra expense that many of us can't comprehend why it's mandated by law.

North Carolina is one of only 27 states that levy a personal property tax on vehicles (source: Tax Foundation). However, our state ranks among the top ten with the highest vehicle property taxes (source: WalletHub). This places an undue financial burden on residents who are already grappling with high costs of living.

The elimination of this tax would provide much-needed relief for thousands of families across our state who are struggling financially. It would also bring North Carolina in line with other states that have recognized this form of taxation as outdated and unfair.
