We ask U.S. news media to interview Human Rights expert Alfred de Zayas about Venezuela.

The Issue

As UN Investigator and Human Rights Rapporteur, Alfred de Zayas wrote the official report on Venezuela for the UN Human Rights Council yet big media outlets still have not interviewed him about his report on Venezuela nor have they mentioned his report.

Alfred De Zayas is the first UN Special Rapporteur to visit Venezuela in 21 years, after which he officially presented his recently published UN report to the Human Rights Council. But U.S. TV news outlets have neglected to give the American public a fair chance to hear what is contained in that report and what Mr. De Zayas has to say about his investigation on the situation in Venezuela.

If one reads that report or listens to what he has said in interviews with media outlets outside of the U.S. (or independent media with limited views) it raises serious concerns that U.S. media giants are refusing to give their viewers information which challenges the narrative being pushed by those insisting on regime change.

There simply is no good reason big media failed to interview Human Rights expert Alfred de Zayas, it's journalistic malpractice. Looking at their track record of media bias, what conclusions can one draw about their disgraceful pattern of omission other than it's about an agenda to purposely keep most Americans in the dark about the report's findings?

The purpose of the petition to get the contents of that report out to the American people and to give the public a fair chance to hear what Alfred De Zayas has to say about what he discovered while investigating the situation in Venezuela. By making this public request, we hope to pressure big TV media outlets such as ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox News, the NYT and others to cover this story BY INTERVIEWING ALFRED DE ZAYAS. This request is also directed at U.S. print media in addition to TV and online news.

The publicity this petition will generate in social media, alternative media outlets, and media outside of the United States will help raise awareness about what is going on. Please sign the petition to give it publicity.
