As concerned citizens of Anne Arundel County, we come together to cordially request that all 7 Anne Arundel County Council-Members convene as soon as possible to take a vote to REMOVE County Executive Steuart Pittman from Office Immediately. His tyrannical and arbitrary mandates must be stopped before AA county is damaged beyond repair.

As far as we are concerned County Executive Steuart Pittman is a Public Enemy to Anne Arundel County!

He is infringing on freedom, our happiness, our rights to operate businesses without county mandated curfews and overall enjoyment of Anne Arundel County. He is imposing new unfounded mandates WEEKLY that further harm and terrorize the residents of Anne Arundel County.

Outrageously he has called upon residents via mass text messaging to "take action" and report face-mask violators to the Health Dept/Police who will then be investigated and imposed with large fines, up to and including jail time, not to mention a criminal record after being charged. These "violators" he seeks to arraign include local businesses and residents who are all doing a wonderful job following the rules of social distancing.  Why are the new mandates coming at the same time Governor Hogan announced that we are at the lowest overall COVID-Positivity Rate of 4% that we've seen since March of 2020? The Governor is celebrating our successes in the State of MD for flattening the curve so WHY is Pittman imposing these new strict mandates out of left field? The reasons he has sited are negligent and lack any true reasoning other than political motives.

His new mandates are unfounded and have an improper foundation and should be fully unenforceable by law enforcement. These new mandates are singling out small businesses, especially bars and restaurants, to the point that many will be forced to close their doors for good. Shutting down local businesses and fining them is increasing hostility all throughout the county.

Masks should be a suggestion NOT a County level mandate. He has now pitted residents and neighbors against one another, which is in turn creating chaos and hostility in places that were once known to be places of enjoyment and entertainment like local restaurants, bars and beauty parlors.

We have the right to SAY NO to facial coverings.  He has stripped our rights, what is next?

What will happen if a business or customer violates this Public Safety Order?

The order is enforced by the County Department of Health. An establishment that does not comply with the order or serves customers not wearing face coverings will be warned and then may be partially or fully shut down by the Health Officer if the business does not take corrective action. The manager of a business that fails to comply could also face a criminal charge by police that carries a maximum penalty of up to 1 year imprisonment and/or $5,000 fine.

A customer that refuses to wear a face covering can also be charged criminally with a misdemeanor that carries a fine of up to $500, although the county does not intend to use this authority to charge individuals. Additionally, if a customer who is violating the order is requested to leave the establishment by an employee or manager and refuses to do so, they could be charged with trespassing. This is a charge that carries a maximum fine of $500 and/or up to 90 days in prison.

(Update: he has since updated and edited his mandates 2 or 3 times, and is floundering on the consequences being imposed....clearly he has NO CLUE WHAT HE IS DOING!!!!)

THIS IS NOT THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE WHO WE WANT RULING WHERE WE PLANNED TO RAISE FAMILIES AND OPEN UP BUSINESSES -- WE ARE ALL BEING SUFFOCATED BY HIS POWER AND OVERREACH.

12 BUSINESSES IN DISTRICT 5 ALONE HAVE SHUT DOWN DUE TO HIS STRICT RESTRICTIONS.

We cordially ask that all 7 District Councilmembers convene to take a vote to REMOVE Steuart Pittman from office immediately on the grounds of Tyrannical, Unnecessary & Excessive use of his executive powers.
