A Winning Strategy on Iran: Protect the People While Weakening the Regime

A Winning Strategy on Iran: Protect the People While Weakening the Regime
The Issue
A targeted approach that weakens the regime while safeguarding Iranian civilians and preserving the nation’s future.
Dear President, Members of Congress, and National Security Leadership,
As Iranian-American technology professionals, we urge a U.S. strategy that accelerates the Islamic Republic’s collapse while safeguarding the Iranian people and the nation they will rebuild. Iran’s future belongs to its courageous citizens, who have repeatedly risen for freedom. Civilian infrastructure—power grids, communications, transportation, and energy—must be preserved as the foundation for a stable, democratic Iran. Strikes on these assets would harm civilians and sabotage post-regime recovery.Instead, focus decisively on dismantling the regime’s repression machinery: the IRGC leadership, Basij, and associated security/intelligence networks that enforce domestic terror and threaten regional stability, including the Strait of Hormuz. This targeted approach would cripple the regime’s ability to suppress its people and project power abroad—without destroying what Iranians need to rebuild. We also call on the United States to engage Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, widely recognized by millions inside Iran and in the diaspora as a unifying transitional figure capable of guiding a peaceful, democratic handover. We respectfully request that U.S. policy:
• Spare Iranian civilian and non-military infrastructure.
• Prioritize pressure on the IRGC and repression apparatus.
• Recognize and collaborate with Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi to support a democratic transition.
Protecting Iran’s future while dismantling its oppressors will hasten the end of tyranny and secure a stable, free Iran aligned with U.S. interests.
Respectfully,
A Coalition of Iranian-American Technology Professionals
