A traffic light is an IMMEDIATE need at FM156 & Petty Place
The Issue
Tuesday night, May 26th, will forever be etched in my memory. I received a call no parent ever wants to receive. My son was involved in a horrific accident—t-boned by an unlicensed, uninsured driver. This reckless individual sped down Highway 156, trying to make an abrupt left onto Petty Place, without any regard for oncoming traffic. He t-boned my son's car at a perilously high speed. He sent him spinning 180 degrees finally coming to rest in the ditch, in front of the railroad tracks. When I answered my son's FaceTime call, my heart stopped as I saw him bleeding and heard him urgently say, "I need you to come."
This intersection has taken the lives of many, most recently a mother and her unborn child. How many more people are going to have to get hurt or lose their lives before something is done and a light is put here?!
These tragic accidents highlight a critical issue in our community—the urgent need for improved road safety at the intersection of Highway 156 and Petty Place. The current traffic conditions are not only dangerous but life-threatening. According to data from the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), this intersection has had 50 - FIFTY accidents since 2016.
To prevent future tragedies like the one that happened to my son, I'm urging the City of Ft Worth, Denton County, and TXDOT to take immediate action. We NEED a traffic light at this intersection, stricter enforcement of traffic laws, and increased patrolling especially during peak hours.
Let's not wait for another life-altering call—let's make our roads safer now.
Please join me in calling on local authorities to prioritize the safety of our community. Sign this petition and stand with us in demanding immediate action to protect our families and neighbors on our roads.
