My three children and many of our neighbors spoke at the Town of Amherst Traffic Safety Board meeting last Wednesday evening to share how frightening and dangerous the current path is. The ATSB made the following recommendations:
- Incorporate path improvements into the bike master plan.
- Ensure year-round maintenance by the Town.
- Enhance lighting along Youngs Road.
- Request that the Highway Department [carefully] clear vegetation.
The next step is for Amherst Town Council Member Michael Szukala to adopt a resolution to implement these recommendations. Today, I met with him to discuss next steps. He has agreed to investigate the issues of utilities, easements, infrastructure plans, and estimated costs to inform our next steps as a community.
