A Safe Crossing for Magenta NSW

The issue

The families of Magenta NSW are concerned by the lack of a safe crossing on Wilfred Barrett Drive/Central Coast Hwy.

Magenta is a community made up of many families with young children and retirees hosting grandchildren and is off Wilfred Barrett Drive, an 80km/h state road. A new cycleway located west side of the road (lakeside) will soon be completed. The cycleway connects The Entrance and Toukley and will be a great addition to the area, but there is no designated crossing for the Magenta community to access it.

The lack of a safe crossing poses significant risks not only to children and individuals with disabilities but also to our elderly community members.

According to Transport NSW, pedestrian fatalities account for approximately 15% of all road fatalities in New South Wales, and a pedestrian has essentially 0% chance of surviving being hit by a vehicle travelling at 80KM/H. We must not wait until tragedy strikes our community before taking action.

We call upon local authorities and traffic management bodies in New South Wales to implement a safe crossing point on Wilfred Barret Drive. By doing so, we can protect our community members and promote safer use of public spaces like the new cycleway.

Please sign this petition if you believe in creating safer roads for all residents in Magenta NSW, Australia.
