Last night at the Lennox & Addington County Council meeting, Councillor’s voted to pause removal of our historic Oak on County Road 41, and have directed county staff to explore every possible option to reduce liability while preserving this remarkable tree.
This is exactly what we hoped for, a chance to ensure that every alternative is carefully considered before any final decision is made. While there is still work ahead, this is a significant step forward and a victory worth celebrating.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who signed the petition, attended the Council meeting, wrote letters, shared posts, and spoke up for this incredible tree. Your passion, respect, and community spirit made a real difference. Seeing so many people come together sent a powerful message that this tree matters, not just as a landmark, but as part of our shared heritage.
The journey isn’t over, but today we celebrate this positive step. Together, we’ve shown what a united community can achieve.
Thank you all.
