To whom it may concern,

     Hello. My Name is Thomas Foreman (Class Of 2026) and recently the Indian River School district has implemented Carnegie Learnings MATHia into our curriculum. Over the last year of me doing it, I speak for myself and others when I say that Carnegie Learning is preventing students from reaching their highest potential in class considering it is a summative grade (worth 70%). Considering that majority of students have after-school activities and 8 hours of school, by the end of the day we are all mentally drained and do not want to look at another problem or question for the rest of the day. But then once we don’t meet those end of the marking period requirements, our grade goes down drastically. That apparently affects our potential according to the school board and Carnegie globally. To be honest, before when we had DreamBox, it wasn’t a grade and we all passed math just fine. Now people are getting sent to summer school and being held back all because they didn’t complete 131 workspaces? This isn’t school anymore this is prison. I know the school board and IRSD can see this so get together and think about the future. None of us are gonna have the motivation to even look at math because of Mathia. Mathia is draining us all. And if your gonna call us lazy and make some excuse, just remember all the after-school clubs and sports you guys are allowing, plus 8 hours of school, plus the Mathia you want us to do at home.
