Call for Durango-La Plata County Citizens' Voices
May 25, 2022

Although the news yesterday about the City Council and DFPD conferring on the possibility of DFPD staying put at River City Hall is positive, indeed, nothing has changed about our interest in Council adopting the ordinance. So, please participate as you are able!

Re-posting from yesterday:

The City Council is holding a Thursday, May 26, 6:00 p.m. public hearing at City Hall to decide EITHER to adopt our proposed Citizens Initiative Ordinance at no cost and schedule it to take effect by mid June, OR to send our ordinance out for an election on August 2/August 9 at a cost estimated at $55,000.

The most important thing you can do is to show up in person at 6 p.m. to urge the City Council to adopt the Initiative ordinance, and not to waste money on an election.

If you cannot personally attend next Thursday’s hearing, then click on this link http://www.durangogov.org/zoom and "raise your hand" to speak and urge the Council to adopt the ordinance.

If you have friends or neighbors who believe in the legitimacy of giving Durango citizens a voice in the process of deciding the best site for a downtown fire station, please share this email with them and urge them to attend or join the meeting via zoom and express their opinion.

If you can’t do either, write the City Council a letter starting now up through Thursday noon urging their adoption of the ordinance.

Please helps reach our goal, ADOPT, in this greatest time of our need. Thank you!!
