All signatories are advised that, as the first SAS member accused of war crimes has now gone on trial, efforts have been made to start an official House of Representatives e-petition about the proposal for a pre-emptive pardon for Ben Roberts-Smith and the others involved in the war crimes investigation. However, supporters of the cause are reporting experiencing resistance from the e-petitions committee to accepting petition requests concerning Ben Roberts-Smith at present. Should an official e-petition ever get listed and gather the required number of signatures, there can be a formal debate over it in the lower house.

So, you are all requested to start an official House of Representatives e-petition of your own. You can ask that Ben Roberts-Smith be granted a pre-emptive pardon, that the war crimes investigation be ended, or even that he be given more national honours and/or a compensation payment. Any petition will do.

Because they weren't just some of the most epic firefights of the war on terrorism. They were some of the most epic firefights of all time!
