The recent closure of Penrith Skatel due to the owner's retirement is a huge blow to the Penrith community, with repercussions felt across Sydney as it was our last remaining roller rink. For many families, Skatel provided a much-needed regular source of active recreation and community. 

At a time when population health is declining as screen time and inactivity increases, venues which promote physical activity are needed more than ever. Penrith Council is currently planning a new multi-sports arena in Claremont Meadows, which will include an outdoor roller rink. We the undersigned petition Penrith Council to make the proposed rink an indoor, all-weather facility so that we may pursue our chosen sport year-round.
