The Issue
As a concerned resident and Mother of Kingman, Arizona, I am calling for real action to protect our children and families. Kingman is growing, and while we take pride in being a family-friendly community, there is a serious issue we can no longer ignore: the rising number of registered sex offenders in our area and the complete lack of local ordinances protecting our children in public spaces.
👉 This petition asks the City of Kingman to establish Mohave County sex offender ordinances and to formally adopt Child Safety Zones within city limits.
Why This Matters
According to public records:
• Over 215 registered sex offenders currently reside in Kingman.
• The 86401 zip code alone has more than 100 offenders.
• In 2023, Kingman recorded 10 sexual assaults, and in 2024, there have already been 7 more reported.
Even one is too many when it comes to children’s safety.
Despite these alarming statistics, Kingman still has no ordinance defining or enforcing “Child Safety Zones.”
This means registered sex offenders can legally enter parks, playgrounds, school bus stops, recreation areas — the exact places where our children should feel safest.
This must change.
What We Are Asking For
We request that the Kingman City Council consider and pass a Child Safety Zone Ordinance that will:
1. Define “Child Safety Zones” to include parks, playgrounds, bus stops, schools, and recreational areas.
2. Restrict registered sex offenders from entering, loitering, or residing within these protected areas.
3. Require clear, visible signage to mark these zones across the city.
4. Establish enforcement and penalties for violations to ensure the ordinance has real impact.
5. Involve parents, schools, and law enforcement in creating, monitoring, and maintaining these protective measures.
This is not about punishment it’s about protection, prevention, and community responsibility.
Every parent, grandparent, and guardian deserves to feel safe letting their children play at a park, walk home from school, or wait for the bus without fear.
Our Message to City Leaders
👉 We want safer parks.
👉 We want protected bus stops.
👉 We want Child Safety Zones in Kingman.
👉 We want Mohave County sex offender ordinances recognized and enforced within the city.
Please sign and share this petition to make your voice heard.
Together, we can build a safer, stronger, family-centered Kingman for generations to come.
