Premier Doug Ford has transformed the face of the cycling community, pushing for policy changes and advocating for big shifts to infrastructure. His tenure as premier of the province (i.e. not as mayor of Toronto) has left an indelible mark on the city. 

In recognition of his relentless efforts, we propose officially naming the University Avenue bike lanes the "Honourable Premier Doug Ford Bike Lanes For Safe Transit Alternatives and Traffic Reduction."

In the fight against traffic congestion, bike lanes are known to play an instrumental role, and bike share ridership is up nearly 1000% since 2015. I'd cite more statistics, but they tend to get completely ignored. 

By attaching the Premier's name to these bike lanes, we honour his work and hope to inspire future leaders to continue advocating for safe transit.
